Oh how wonderful it is if we have a sharp memory. If we are young, we want to improve our memory and mental performance to reach our maximum potential. Indeed memory lapses are frustrating especially if we are young but we can still do something about it. There are many ways that we can do to boost and harness our memory. If we do this right, aside from enhancing our memory, we can improve our ability to learn new information. Here is a guide:
Get enough sleep
Sleep is generally good for the body especially the brain. We will notice that if we lack sleep, we are grumpy and our brain cannot fully operate. It can also compromise other brain functions like creativity and critical thinking. Our brain needs rest to regain or renew its proper function. We should allot at least seven to nine hours of sleep every day.
Exercise regularly
Cardiovascular exercises like walking, jogging and running can help our brain to function well. A thirty minute exercise thrice a week can make a big difference.
Eat brain-boosting foods
Rule of thumb is to eat any green leafy vegetable like spinach, kale, broccoli, lettuce and arugula. Fruits like mangoes, cantaloupe, watermelon and apricots are also recommended. We should consume fishes like salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerels which are rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
Challenge your brain
It is true that if we don’t use our brains that often, we feel “rusty”. Our brain needs exercise from time to time. The more we challenge our brain, the better it will perform in terms of processing information, critical thinking and problem solving.
